Our theater action is expanding across national borders.

Industrial Equipment Division, which are engaged in the development and the production of multi-purpose ROBIN engines, started with an engine plant of Nakajima Aircraft, the predecessor of Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. In the fields of construction and agricultural machines, which support the infrastructure of society; leisure equipment that, contribute to the quality of life; and snowplows and electric generators, support daily life, ROBIN engines are ranked second in Japan and fourth in the world in terms of market share. Saitama Plant, located in a rural district of Saitama, produces more than 800 types of engines. This new plant, which has expertise accumulated over many years and advanced development and production facilities, has a factory building, a research building, a parts service center, and a main office building. It is also equipped with environmental protection facilities including air pollution prevention and energy saving equipment: Everybody working at this plant is working constantly for product quality improvement.

 

Worldwide network and a global standard Subaru quality

In some production bases centering on two bases of the Saitama factory which is a mother factory, and a Chinese local joint corporation, the Fuji Heavy Industries industrial apparatus company produces the quality Subaru general-purpose products set by the needs of the visitor of every corner of the earth. And we develop globally sale / service network which connects Subaru general-purpose products and a visitor mainly by the sales company of overseas 4 base including domestic, and are sending Subaru general-purpose products to the visitor covering 90 or more nations.
A Variety of engine products are produced in the Saitama Plant, such as those for general-purpose engines for use in snowmobiles and watercraft, and avariety of electric generators . These products are exported to 95 countries through our world-wide network.

 

History

1942Jun.
Nakajima Aircraft Co.,Ltd.establishes Omiya Plant on an expanse of land approximately 400,000m2.  
1943Mar.
Plant embarks on the production of "Homare, " an engine designed for airplanes.Pronduces 300 per month.  
1945Nov.
Omiya Plant becomes the Fuji Sangyo Co.,Ltd. Omiya Plant,which converts to manufactureing for private industry. The Plant develops inboard and outboard motors for boats under the brands "Taro" and "Joro".  
1950Aug.
Under the Business Reorganization Law,the Plant becomes the Omiya Fuji Industries Co.,Ltd.,as the 2nd company of the Fuji Sangyo Co.,Ltd.  
1953Jul.
Based on a merger between the 2nd company of the Fuji Sangyo Co.,Ltd.,the Omiya Fuji Industories Co.,Ltd.,and four other companies,the Fiji Heavy Industries Ltd.,is established.  
1954Aug.
Prototype is made of the "JO-1," a jet engine for airplanes,the first such manufacturing in the country.  
1955Apr.
Plant becomes the Omiya Plant of Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd.  
1956May.
Unveils ROBIN engine KD11, advancing into the area of agricultural engines. Adopts ROBIN mark as trademark and registers it in July 1960.  
1960Feb.
Markets ROBIN tractor T-4.  
1968Jul.
Unveils ROBIN engine EY-18 mainly for construction machines.  
1971Jan.
Concludes an agreement with Wisconsin In the U.S.A. on exports of ROBIN engines.  
1975May.
Begins exporting snow mobile engines to Polaris in the U.S.A.  
1978Mar.
Achieves production of one million "EY 18" compact,general-purpose,air-cooled teo-cycle engines.  
1983May.
Puts on sale SUBARU SG500, Japan's lightest generator in per-output weight.  
1986Oct.
Puts on sale SUBARU TORIYANSE snow plow.  
1990Oct.
Turns out one millionth compact multi-purpose air-cooled two-cycle engine EC10.  
1990Mar.
Achieves production of one million "EY 18" compact,general-purpose,air-cooled teo-cycle engines.  
1992Oct.
Markets SUBARU SGV series of OHV engine-mounted generators.  
1993Nov.
Incorporates ROBIN America, a marketing affiliate in the United States.  
1993Dec.
Commences construction of the Saitama Works to build a high-efficiency state-of-art plant in an idyllic area of Kitamoto City, Saitama Prefecture with a view to producing million engines a year.  
1994Sep.
Incorporates ROBIN Manufacturing U.S.A., a production arm in the U.S.A. as a joint venture with Polaris.  
1995Feb.
Establishes Singapore Fuji Heavy Industries, a marketing concern in Singapore.  
1995Feb.
Saitama Plant's buildings are completed.  
1995Apr.
Saitama Plant's operation begins.  
1995Sep.
Saitama Plant's research facilities are completed.  
1996May.
FHI'S Industrial products division receives ISO 9001 certification.  
1996Sep.
Saitama Plant receives the Award for TPM Excellence-First Category.  
1998Jun.
Establishes ROBIN Europe, a sales company in Germany.  
1999Mar.
A total of 2 million engines for Polaris have been produced.  
1999May.
Saitama Works wins ISO14001 certification, an international standard for environmental management  
1999May.
A total of one million generators have been produced.

A total of 17 million general-purpose engines have been produced.
